Terms

This is a pilot edition. No legal team has reviewed this text yet — these are plain terms describing the current pilot's limits.

What Qawlak is today

Qawlak is an early pilot running on one server in Mumbai, India, with no written uptime guarantee. Don't rely on it for sensitive commercial projects before we announce the end of the pilot, and always keep your own copy of the original files.

Your account

Signing up takes an email and a password. You are responsible for keeping the recovery code shown once at signup — losing it along with your email means losing the ability to recover the account.

Workspace and prepaid minutes

Every new workspace gets ten free processing minutes. The packs on the Manage subscription page are prepaid minutes, not a recurring subscription: online payment is not live yet, so minutes are added to your balance by hand after payment; they never expire and do not move between workspaces.

Refunds (PROPOSED until payments go live): a payment is refunded in full if you ask within 14 days of it and under 10% of its minutes were used. After that you can cancel anytime, with no refund for the current period. A refund removes that payment's unspent minutes from your balance. Jobs that fail because of a fault on our side get their minutes back.

Content you upload

You own the video, audio, and text you upload. We use it only to process your request, and to train our model unless the workspace owner turns “Help improve Qawlak” off in Settings, as the privacy page describes. A caption line you rate (thumbs up or down in the editor) is sent to us with its audio, the engine’s text and your correction, and may be used to improve the model even when “Help improve Qawlak” is off or locked. Transcripts and translations are processed on our server via open models (Whisper and Ollama), and when remote processing is enabled the transcription step runs at Modal as the Privacy page describes. Do not upload content you have no right to use.

Captions you get back

The captions, transcripts, and translations Qawlak produces are yours to use in your videos and your work. One thing you may not do with them: use Qawlak's output, or Qawlak itself, to train, fine-tune, or improve a speech recognition, captioning, or translation model, or to build a product that competes with Qawlak, whether by yourself or through a third party. If you do, we may suspend or close the account. This is the same rule the large model providers apply to their own output; it is what lets us keep investing in dialect and mixed-language speech.

Review links

Any review link you create is a bearer link — whoever has it can approve on your behalf with no identity check. You're responsible for controlling who receives it.

Ending your account

You can delete your account and workspace at any time from Settings. Deletion is final and immediate.
